Klondike History Library & Archives

The browser and serious researcher alike will enjoy pouring over the materials in the Museum’s Klondike History Library. Does your family lore have a relative who participated in the Stampede of ’98? Did they perhaps climb the Chilkoot? The resources held in the Library and Archives could provide proof. Some of the resources that you might consult include:

  • Placer Mining Grants 1898-1942
  • Northwest Mounted Police lists of people who crossed the Chilkoot
  • Lists of passengers arriving by steamer
  • 1901 Census records
  • School, church and tax rolls
  • Cemetery and funeral records

In addition, the Archives holds some 12,000 images of the gold rush and beyond.
